About Coir Rugs - Its our coir rugs that are made by pounding nuts - coconuts - until the fibre is softened enough to weave into a selection of amazing designs. Before being pounded with stones, the fibres are first removed by hand, rather than machine, and then softened in sea water. Combed and dried, the resulting fibres are then woven on hand-operated looms to create a beautiful internationally recognised floorcovering with a highly textured finish.

Coir is probably the most long standing of all plant fibre floorcoverings and testament to both its durability and good value. Choice is wider today and manufacturing techniques much more sophisticated.

Simply beautiful and very striking, our coir rugs collection features designs in natural coconut colour or bleached to produce a creamy yellow shade as well as a combination of the two.
